Donna Iona Drozda, Temenos

An exhibition of “simple visual images that contain many big ideas,” these metaphoric works in acrylic and mixed media by painter Donna Drozda blend color, line and form expressing mystical aspects of sanctuary, as found within her life experience.

About the Artist

Painter and author Donna Drozda is dedicated to creating a life ‘made by hand.’ Her large graffito canvas tapestries and intimate dreamscapes shimmer with layers of literal and figurative meaning. In Temenos Drozda shares her interest in seeking the still point within the diverse experiences that life offers.

A well-respected artist with a career spanning twenty-five years, Drozda trained at the Cleveland Institute of Art, owned Signet Gallery in the bustling arts district of Cleveland and served as artist in residence for the Art Studio, Inc. Center for Therapy Through the Arts. While there she began her mentoring / consulting service, Lifecycle, which assists participants from around the country in becoming more aware of how to create inner peace through direct experience with the arts. Now residing in Virginia, Drozda paints, provides Lifecycle mentoring and shares creativity with children at the Contemporary Art Center of Virginia and as a resident artist with Young Audiences of Virginia.

Drozda’s mission is to share the awareness that a close association with nature and a proactive creative self-expression have the capacity to elevate and balance mind, heart and spirit. An individual who experienced violent trauma at age 19, Drozda has lived a life devoted to healing through the arts. Her work is dedicated to the shamanic healing journey that creative self-expression provides. She has disciplined focus and the clear intent to assist others in diving deeply into physical, emotional and spiritual zones where true creative joy resides. Please visit her site at www.fromwrenhouse.com.

Drozda is also a poet and a Hospice volunteer, and has created a moving literary gift in response to her Hospice experience. Illustrated with her dramatic landscape paintings, Twenty Two Prayer Poems for Caregivers is a beautiful collection of meditations combining comforting words and images for anyone who cares for others.
